I pulled my new landscape print off the drying rack and framed it for the current El Cerrito Art Show. It's titled "Last Sunset" and is in the center of this photo. I also contributed two other linocut prints from earlier this year.
If you're in the area, you might stop by the El Cerrito Art Show from Sep. 30 - Oct. 2. It's always a fun event, particularly the artists reception on Friday night. Feel free to sneak a peek at the printmaking section to see my latest landscape print.

Golden Gate Bridge - Woodcut Art Print
My current printmaking projects have been put off to the side as I start a new tropical landscape print, which I hope to finish before a local art show in September. It will be about twice the size of my usual prints, which presents new challenges but is a fun change of pace. This Golden Gate Bridge woodcut just came off the drying rack.
I started carving some new Shina Basswood on a recent trip to Northern Michigan. I couldn't ask for a more serene view looking out into the woods and lakeside.
This is my first time working with this Japanese wood and it took awhile getting used to how the material takes cuts from the gouges. I hope it will work well for this mountain scene print - inspired by a memorable trek in Nepal a few years ago. The plan for this print is 3-4 colors, which will require a couple more carved blocks.
